Srinagar, Oct 8: Around 15 tourists were safely rescued from Dal Lake after their Shikara got stranded near Nehru Park amid gusty winds and rain on Thursday, officials said.
An official said the tourists were on a Shikara ride when the vessel became stranded as strong winds swept across the lake.
Following the incident, CRPF and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, along with rescue teams, launched an operation and safely evacuated all the stranded tourists.
The official said the exact number of tourists could not be confirmed at the time of the rescue and that the number may have been higher than 15.
All the tourists were reported safe, while an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
