A Step Towards Pain-Free Living: PARAS Srinagar Offers Joint Replacement Under Ayushman Bharat
Share:

SRINAGAR, Oct 13: In a significant step towards making advanced orthopaedic care more accessible and affordable, PARAS Health Srinagar has announced joint replacement surgeries for eligible patients under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).

The initiative aims to extend access to specialised joint care, particularly for patients suffering from debilitating knee and hip conditions that restrict mobility, cause persistent pain and affect their quality of life. A team of experienced orthopaedic specialists at the hospital will undertake the surgeries, supported by comprehensive clinical care and hospital facilities.

The initiative is expected to benefit eligible beneficiaries who require joint replacement procedures but may face financial constraints in accessing advanced surgical treatment. Patients can seek information about their eligibility, available procedures and treatment options by contacting the hospital.

Dr Murtuza Habib, Facility Director, PARAS Health Srinagar, said the initiative reflects the hospital’s commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to more people across Jammu and Kashmir.

“Joint pain and mobility-related problems can significantly affect a person’s independence, confidence and everyday life. Through joint replacement surgeries under Ayushman Bharat, our endeavour is to help eligible patients access expert orthopaedic care without the burden of prohibitive treatment costs. Our team of specialists is committed to providing comprehensive care, with a focus on patient safety, recovery and improved quality of life,” Dr Habib said.

Seema Vig, Senior Vice President and Regional Director, PARAS Health, said accessible healthcare remains central to the organisation’s approach to patient care.

“Access to quality healthcare should not be limited by financial circumstances. By extending joint replacement services under Ayushman Bharat, we aim to support eligible patients in regaining mobility and living healthier, more independent lives. We remain committed to strengthening specialised healthcare services and bringing advanced treatment closer to the communities we serve,” she said.

Joint replacement surgery is commonly recommended for patients with severe joint damage, advanced arthritis and other conditions that significantly compromise movement and daily functioning. Depending on individual clinical assessments, eligible patients may be considered for knee or hip replacement, alongside other appropriate orthopaedic interventions.

PARAS Health Srinagar said its broader orthopaedic services also include shoulder and other joint care, with treatment plans tailored to patients’ medical needs and clinical suitability.

The hospital has encouraged patients and their families to consult its orthopaedic team to understand available treatment options and the eligibility requirements under the government scheme. Coverage and approval for procedures will be subject to applicable Ayushman Bharat guidelines and scheme conditions.
