New Delhi: Northern Railway has organised safety and quality improvement camps across four major locations, bringing together 550 railway officials, technical staff and contractor personnel to strengthen safety standards and ensure quality execution of 2×25 KV Overhead Equipment (OHE) upgradation works.
To strengthen the safety culture, quality consciousness, and adherence to prescribed standards in ongoing infrastructure development, Northern Railway organized a comprehensive series of Safety & Quality Seminar-cum-Interaction Sessions for 2×25 KV Overhead Equipment (OHE) upgradation works.

The camps were successfully conducted across four major locations during October 2026: Jalandhar (01.10.2026), Ambala (05.10.2026), Moradabad (09.10.2026), and Lucknow (12.10.2026). The initiative brought together 550 participants, included 42 officers, 169 divisional TRD staff, 112 project unit staff (from the Ambala & Lucknow Electrification Project Units), and 227 contractor/agency staff.

Personnel Safety:

General safety precautions, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe working practices and prevention of unsafe acts.

Safety of Railway Operations & Infrastructure:

Safe operation of cranes, JCBs and excavators near railway tracks; protection of train operations, track, signalling and telecommunications (S&T) systems and other railway assets.

Quality in Construction & Erection:

Safety and quality checks during foundation casting, mast erection, alignment and grouting, with emphasis on compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications and prescribed procedures.

OHE & PSI Works:

Safe execution of Feeder Wire/AEC erection, BEC laying and associated works in proximity to existing railway infrastructure and energised OHE.

Emergency Preparedness:

Precautions during adverse weather, emergency response procedures, accident reporting and rescue arrangements.

Roles & Accountability:

Clear understanding of responsibilities and accountability of Railway officials, Project Unit personnel, supervisors and contractor staff in ensuring safe and quality execution.

Learning from Field Experiences:

Sharing of safety incidents, near misses, practical challenges and lessons learned to identify potential hazards and prevent recurrence.

Outcomes & Way Forward:

The campaign underscored that safety and quality are collective responsibilities. By bridging communication between Railway officials, project units, and contracting agencies, the camps promoted proactive hazard identification, strict adherence to technical standards, and continuous learning from field incidents.

Northern Railway remains firmly committed to ensuring these critical infrastructure projects are executed systematically, achieving the highest quality standards while prioritizing personnel safety, uninterrupted train operations, and asset protection under the guiding motto, SAFETY FIRST • QUALITY ALWAYS • NO SHORTCUTS • ZERO COMPROMISE.
